How do I best support Hope Squad at my school or district when my time is limited?

You do not need to manage every part of Hope Squad yourself. The administrator’s role is to make sure the people, time, systems, and support are in place so Advisors and students can carry out their roles effectively.

If your time is limited, focus on a few high-impact responsibilities:

  • Choose and support strong Advisors. Make sure they are trained, have protected time, and know they have administrative backing.
  • Keep the referral pathway clear. Confirm who receives student concerns, what happens next, and how outside mental health partners are involved when needed.
  • Make schoolwide implementation possible. Help with scheduling, staffing, faculty communication, and expectations for schoolwide lessons and activities.
  • Stay visibly connected. Periodic check-ins with Advisors, attendance at key events, and clear support of Hope Squad can reinforce that the program is a school priority.
  • Support sustainability. Help address funding, staffing, community partnerships, evaluation, and planning for the next school year.

A short, consistent administrative check-in can be more valuable than trying to be involved in every meeting or activity. Your primary responsibility is to create the conditions for the program to succeed, not to do the work of the Advisor.
