How do we educate the community about Hope Squad?

Clear communication helps community partners understand Hope Squad’s purpose, the role of student Members, and how the program fits within the school’s broader prevention and support system.

In the Getting Started section of both the Administrator and Advisor pathways, schools can access the Faculty/Staff Information Meeting video to build shared understanding among school personnel.

Community understanding grows through inclusion, so whenever possible, invite community partners to participate in Hope Squad events, planning conversations, awareness activities, and other appropriate opportunities to see the program in action. A customizable Community Support Letter is available for introducing Hope Squad to local organizations and potential partners.

When appropriate, Hope Squad Members may also participate in school or community events to share their experiences and highlight the activities their Squad is leading. Administrators should help ensure community messaging reinforces an important distinction: Hope Squad Members are peer leaders and connectors to trusted adults—not counselors, therapists, or crisis responders.
