How does the nomination and selection process work?

Students identify peers they would feel comfortable approaching with a difficult concern. Those nominations provide important information about trust within the student body, but they are not a vote or automatic selection. School staff review nominations and use professional judgment to form a diverse, appropriate Squad that reflects grade levels, peer groups, school context, and the needs of the community. Parent or guardian permission is obtained before a selected student participates.
