What do we say to students or families when a student is nominated but not selected?
Explain that nomination is one part of a broader adult-led selection process and is not an election, award, or ranking of students. Schools form a Squad based on the overall needs and representation of the school community, so not every nominated student will be selected. Being nominated still reflects that peers may see the student as trustworthy or supportive, and students who are not selected can continue contributing to a caring school culture in many other ways.
